Gary M. Lucas, age 83 of Peters Twp. passed away on Saturday June2, 2012 in Canonsburg General Hospital. He was born January 12, 1929 in Monessen a son of the late Bernice Arlene Kearns.
Mr. Lucas was a graduate of Monessen High School. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served in the Korea War as a staff sergeant earning the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze stars.
Following his discharge from the military he had been employed at Koppers Co., in Pittsburgh and attended Robert Morris College earning his business degree. Mr. Lucas then began a dedicated and distinguished career in the glass industry, with Henry F. Teichmann, Inc. in McMurray as Secretary-Treasure, visiting plant sites all over the globe prior to his retirement in 1997.
Gary was unfailingly kind, with a genuine fondness for others. He had boundless energy and his great loves were family, gardening and photography. He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Jean Lucas. Deceased is his son Mark D. Lucas. Also surviving are his inlaws Joe Celio, Albert Celio and Antoinette Liberatore all of Canonsburg, Lou and Ann Celio of Houston and Richard and Marilyn Celio of Scott Twp. and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are welcome from 10am until noon, the time of service on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg (724)745-8120 where military services will be accorded by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 764 of McMurray.
