Frederick Ray Rolek 60 of Canonsburg, died Saturday, December 27, 2008 at 1:05AM, in Manor Care.
He was born October 26, 1948, in Canonsburg, the son of the late George R. and Marie Mailo Rolek.
Mr. Rolek was a graduate of Canon McMillan High School, class of 1967.
Serving in the Army during the Viet Nam he received the following medals, National Defense Medal, Viet Nam Service Medal, Viet Nam Campaign Medal, Air Medal, Bronze Star Medal and the Army Commendation Medal.
Mr. Rolek was Roman Catholic by faith.
He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 553 of Strabane, SNPJ Lodge # 138 of Strabane, American Legion Post 574 of Mt. Jewett, Labor Temple and Russian Club.
Mr. Rolek enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving are daughter, Shanasee Rolek of Canonsburg; two sisters, Caroleen Saulsberry of Lone Pine; Bernedene (Warren) Dernoshek of Cecil; two brothers, George (Glenda) Rolek of Eighty-Four; Joseph (Patricia) Rolek of Canonsburg and many nieces and nephews.
Friends are welcome from 2:00 to 8:00PM on Tuesday, in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg (724-745-8120), where a Blessing Service will be held on Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at 10:00AM. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Twp.
Full military rites will be accorded by the combined honor guard Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 of Canonsburg and American Legion Post 902 of Houston.
