Frank Suska

Frank Suska, age 96, of Peters Township, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, in his home at The Waters of McMurray. Born on November 12, 1927, in Canonsburg, he was the son of the late Frank and Catherine Kozak Suska Sr.

During World War II, Frank honorably served in the Merchant Marines and the United States Army. He was a proud member of VFW Post 764 in McMurray and the American Legion Post 760 in Bethel Park.

A graduate of Canonsburg High School, Frank was a lifelong member of St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church. He worked at the former Fort Pitt Bridgeworks and the I. Richman Company before becoming self-employed in the steel and fabricating industry until his retirement.

Frank shared a remarkable 71-year marriage with his beloved wife, Minnie (Dominica Sylvia Scarsellato), until her passing in 2021. He is survived by his children, Patricia Coles (Tom), James Suska (Alice), Mark Suska (Judy), and Karen Prologo (Rocco). Frank was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, and he is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

An avid outdoorsman, Frank cherished the 53 years he spent at his camp, enjoying hunting, fishing, and gardening. 

Frank’s legacy of love, dedication, and resilience will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Friends and family are welcome from 11:00 AM until 12:30 PM on Monday, September 9, 2024, at Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra LFD owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, PA. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 1:00 PM at St. Michael’s Byzantine Catholic Church with Reverend Joseph Raptosh as celebrant. Interment with full military rites by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 764 of McMurray and the United States Army, will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
