Frank A. Soski, Jr. age 87 of Canonsburg, died Sunday, March 15, 2009 in HCR Manor Care.
He was born September 15, 1921 in Canonsburg, the son of Frank A. and Catherine Essick Soski, Sr.
Mr. Soski graduated from Canonsburg High School where he was on the track team.
He served in the United States Army during World War II in New Guinea , which he received the World War II Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with one Bronze Service Star and Good Conduct Medal.
Mr. Soski retired from the former RCA plant in Meadowlands in January of 1982 from the maintenance department.
He was a member of St. Genevieve Church.
Mr. Soski was an avid hunter and fisherman doing this with his family at the family camp.
He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Soski was the last of his immediate family.
On November 7, 1948 he married Florence M. Raciborski who died July 3, 1999 almost a year after celebrating 50 years together.
Surviving are two daughters, Kathleen (Larry) Clutter and Michele A. (Tom) Pizzuti both of Canonsburg; five grandchildren, Larry (Carrie), Mark (Denise) and Michael Clutter, Tony and Katie Pizzuti; three great-grandchildren, Brandon, Cara and Kyleigh Clutter and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is one son, Frank Alan Soski.
Friends are welcome on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 and on Wednesday, March 18, 2009 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Salandra Funeral Service Inc, Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120, where a Blessing Service will be held on Thursday March 19, 2009 at 9:30 AM followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Patrick Church. Interment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray. Full military rites will be accorded by the combined honor guards Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 of Canonsburg and American Legion Post 902 of Houston.
