Frank J. Catalano, 81, of Murrells Inlet, SC, formerly of Washington, passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 in UPMC-Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born on July 3, 1933 in Westland, a son of the late Giuseppe and Mary Folino Catalano.

Frank had lived the last 25 years in South Carolina and came back to the area just a few weeks ago to be closer to his family. While in SC, he was an active member of the Grand Strand Church of Christ.

He proudly served his country during the Korean War with the U. S. Air Force and was a past member of the VFW Post 191 in Canonsburg.

Frank loved watching his grandchildren play sports. He also enjoyed golfing and spending time on FaceBook.

On September 6, 1975 he married Deborah D. Catalano, who passed away on October 10, 2014. He and his beloved will have a dual visitation and funeral service together.

Surviving are his children, Frank J. (Lilli) Catalano, Jr. of Houston, Michael A. (Jamie) Catalano of Canonsburg, and Nicole M. (Richard) Hale of California; a brother, Raymond Catalano of Canonsburg; a sister, Patricia (Richard, deceased) Fabian of Canonsburg; brothers-in-law, Joseph Dusza of Houston and Mark (Dodie) Jones of Walnut Bottom, PA; a sister-in-law, Linnea Brothers of Burgettstown; six grandchildren, Jacqueline (Glenn) Haynes, Michael Catalano, Jr., Nicholas Catalano, Marina Evans, Gabriella Evans, and Katie (John) Reeves; two great grandchildren, Fiona Haynes and Kelly Marie Reeves; nieces and nephews, Karen, Rick, Tricia (Dan), Diane (Tom), JoAnne (Ted), Kristina (Jeff), Austin, Ethan, Kolina, Logan, Ashley, and Cody; and several great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, deceased is also a son, James V. Catalano and a sister, Rose Dusza.

Friends are welcome from 4:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, October 16, 2014 in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra Owner/Supervisor, Lin Webb Funeral Director, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where a funeral service will begin at 11:30 AM on Friday, October 17, 2014 with Rev. Dr. Steve Mentzer officiating with military honors accorded by the Honor Guard with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 in Canonsburg beginning at 11:15 AM. Interment, with full honors, will follow at 12:30 PM at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Twp.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Grand Strand Church of Christ, 2212 Glenns Bay Road, Surfside Beach, SC 29575.
