Frank Carvell

Frank Carvell age 93 of Houston died Sunday August 7, 2011 in Canonsburg General Hospital following an extended illness. He was born April 18, 1918 in Westland a son of the late John and Antoinette Rodgers Carvell. Mr. Carvell lived most of his life in Houston where he attended the Central Assembly of God Church.
He was a barber on North Main Street in Houston for many years and later retired from the former McGraw Edison Power Systems in Canonsburg. Mr. Carvell served with the United States Army during World War II under the command of General George S. Patton, serving in the African and European Campaign. He was awarded the Purple Heart, European and African Middle Eastern service medal with six bronze stars and one Bronze Arrowhead, the American Defense service medal and the Good Conduct medal.
Mr. Carvell was a member of the American Legion post 902 of Houston and a retired member of the United Steel Workers of America local 3968.
On March 26, 1946 he married Rose M. Taylor who survives. Also surviving are two sons Frank J. (Betsy) Carvell of North Port Florida and Jesse J. Carvell of Washington, six grandchildren Candice, Taj, Frank, Jade, Stacy and Cody and two Great grandchildren.
He was the last of his immediate family.
Friends are welcome from 2-4 and 6-8pm Thursday August 11, 2011 in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120. Services will be held at 10am Friday August 12, 2011 in Central Assembly of God church 155 McGovern Road, Houston with Pastor Don O'Hare officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Spring Cemetery. Full Military Rites will be accorded by the American Legion post 902 of Houston and the VFW post 191 of Canonsburg Honor Guard.
