Francis J. Milbower age 89 of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 30, 2017 in TownView Health and Rehabilitation Center, following a brief illness. He was born April 7, 1928 in Avella a son of the late Andrew “Cubby” and Theresa Kouche Milbower. Raised in Muse, Mr. Milbower lived in Canonsburg since 1960, where he was a faithful member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church. He was a graduate of Cecil High School and served with the United States Army during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement after 36 years he had been employed in Quality Control at the former Pennsylvania Transformer, McGraw Edison and Cooper Power Systems in Canonsburg. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3291, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 in Canonsburg and the American Legion Post 902 in Houston. Mr. Milbower most especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
On August 27, 1960, he married his beloved wife of 56 years Mary Jean Kelso who survives. Also, left to cherish his memory are three sons; Richard Lee (Edna) Kelso of St. Louis Missouri, Frances James (Jackie) Milbower Jr. of Mason, Ohio and Anthony J. Milbower of Canonsburg, his daughter, Jennifer (David) Sprecase of Donora, a brother, James (Karen) Milbower of Cecil Twp., five grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to his parents is a grandson, Michael Kelso and a brother Joseph Milbower.
Friends are welcome from 2-8pm Tuesday May 2, 2017 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where departing prayers will be recited at 10:30 Wednesday May 3, 2017. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am Wednesday in St. Patrick Church 317 West Pike Street Canonsburg, followed by Full Military Rites accorded by the VFW Post 191 and the United States Army Honor Guards in St. Patrick Cemetery. The Knights of Columbus will hold services at 7pm Tuesday in the funeral home.
