Fortunata M. Compeggie age 85 of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully on Monday January 8, 2018 in Manor Care, Peters Township. She was born April 29, 1932 in Muse, a daughter of the late Dominick and Frances Zampaglione Calabro. Mrs. Compeggie lived her entire life in the Muse area and was a member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church and its Christian Mothers. She was a 1950 graduate of Cecil High School and graduated from Penn Commercial business school in 1951. She had been employed at the Fort Pitt Bridgeworks, All State Insurance and Woodville State Hospital. Mrs. Compeggie was a member of the Senior Citizens in both Muse and Cecil and was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. On October 13, 1962 in Holy Rosary Church, she married Joseph Compeggie who passed away Jan 10, 2014 after celebrating 51 years of marriage. Left behind to cherish her memory are her three sons: Dr. Michael E. (Cindy) Compeggie of Newport N.C., Christopher J. (Margaret) Compeggie of Bainbridge Island, Washington and Joel D. Compeggie of Canonsburg, four grandchildren; Christopher, Megan, Joseph and Sara Compeggie, her brother Frank (Janet) Calabro of Canonsburg and many nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to her husband and parents are three brothers; Paul, Carmen and Anthony Calabro.
Friends are welcome from 2-8pm Friday, January 12, 2018 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg where a blessing service will be held at 9:20 a.m on Saturday, January 13, 2018. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church Muse with the Reverend George T. DeVille, pastor as celebrant. Interment will be private and held at a later date in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Twp.
