Florence Kathleen "Kathy" Powell age 59 of Canonsburg, passed away on Monday, June 21, 2010 in Manor Care Health Services, McMurray, she fought a courageous battle with lymphoma for one year.
She was born on September 4, 1950 in Canonsburg, the daughter of the late Dorothy Biers and William Schary.
Mrs. Powell was Christian.
Her husband Eugene T. Powell, whom she married on June 25, 1998, passed away on September 9, 2008.
Mrs. Powell was employed by Trax Farm, Giant Eagle and most recently Manor Care of McMurray.
She was a 1967 graduate of Canon-McMillan High School.
Mrs. Powell will be remembered by all who knew and loved her as gentle, hardworking women with kind heart. Her love of animals made her a very special person.
Surviving are three sisters, Patricia Mulshen of Washington; Sandy (John) Rasel of Manitou, Kentucky and Janice (William) Miller of Meadowlands. Also surviving are two sister-in-laws, Beatrice (Anthony) Sorino of Lorain, Ohio and Rosemary (John) Carpetta of Canonsburg and brother-in-law, Jesse McCullough and several nieces and nephews who loved her very much.
In addition to her parents, deceased is a sister, Donna McCullough.
Friends are welcome on Thursday, June 24, 2010 from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120, where Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 25, 2010 at 11:00 AM with the Minister of the Christian Church, John Rasel officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. Donations may be made to Washington County Human Society in honor of Mrs. Powell.
