Evelyn Ruth Simpson age 94, of Fairview, Pa., formerly of Canonsburg, died Saturday, January 15, 2011 at her daughter's home with family by her side.
She was born on May 28, 1916, in Connellsville, Pa. the daughter of Alvie G. and Hazel Williams Miller.
Mrs. Simpson was a devoted homemaker, loving wife, caring mother and grandmother.
She loved gardening, baking, doing crafts and taking care of her cats.
Mrs. Simpson lived most of her life in Canonsburg and for the past 14 years lived with her daughter. She was Protestant by faith and pre-deceased by a brother.
On April 17, 1942 she married George E. Simpson, Sr., who died October 3, 1988.
Surviving are son, George E. (June) Simpson, Jr., of Washington; daughter, Ruth Simpson Scandale of Fairview; four grandchildren, Tammy (Patrick) Johnson, Eric, Tony and Shallyn Scandale; seven great-grandchildren, William, Christopher and Andrew Costello, Xiola Jenson, Colby and Kendall Thomas and Shaylene Scandale. Appreciation is extended to her caregivers, Teresa Schulz and Judy Veshinfsky for their tender loving care.
Friends are welcome on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Salandra Funeral Service, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120, where Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 10:30 AM with Rev. Steve Parkhill officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
