Evelyn A. Delfine 87 of Canonsburg passed away at 4:40 am Friday September 21, 2012 following and extended illness, in Hawthorne Woods with her family by her side. She was born December
24, 1924 in Worcester, Massachusetts, a daughter of the late Frank and Ruth Kerr Merson. Mrs. Define lived in Canonsburg since 1963. Although Baptist by faith, she faithfully attended mass at St. Patrick Church with her beloved husband Joseph A. 'Cokey" Delfine for over 35 years. The couple was married on April 26, 1947 and Mr. Delfine died February 24, 2001 after 53 years of marriage. She was a Clockmaker and owner of Delfine's Jewelry Store which she ran along with Mr. Define for 37 years.
Mrs. Delfine was an avid bowler, enjoyed bingo. She was a homemaker and loving wife, mother and grandmother, who was an excellent cook and baker. She most loved her vacation time with family at her cottage at Cape Cod.
Surviving are three daughters; Cynthia D. (Ron) Ranson of Cecil, Beverly A. (Dave) Scarmazzi of Canonsburg and Janice R. (Mike) Mannen of Hampton Virginia, a son Gene A. (Terri) Delfine of St. Albans, West Virginia, twelve grandchildren; Phaedra (Trent) Nunley, Corbin and Casey Ranson, Megan, Courtney and Rebecca Delfine, Christopher (Kristy), Nathaniel and LeAnn Scarmazzi and Eric, Renee and Alex Mannen, four great grandchildren; Hailey, Delaney and Ava Nunley and Carson Joseph Black, a sister Ruth (Lou) Telareco of Fairport, New York, a brother Dana (Betsy) MacKay of Edgewater Florida and many nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to her husband is a brother George Merson.
Friends are welcome from 2-8pm Sunday and 10-11am the time of service on Monday September 24, 2012 in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120. Reverend Stephen Parkhill will officiate at the 11 am service and interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions in Mrs. Delfine's name be made to Parkinson Foundation of Western Pennsylvania 3468 Babcock Boulevard, Pittsburgh, PA. 15237.
