Eugene A. Mannella

Eugene A. Mannella, 83, of McMurray passed away on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 in Canonsburg General Hospital.

He was born December 12, 1930 in Squirrel Hill, the son of the late Amico and Philomena Pitassi Mannella.

Eugene proudly served his country with the U. S. Army during the Korean War. In 1985 he retired from Gene's Foreign Car Repair in Bethel Park, where he was the owner and operator. He was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Parish in Canonsburg. Eugene was a lifelong lover and rescuer of dogs. He also enjoyed cooking.

Surviving is a sister, Mary T. Mannella of Munhall; his two beloved dogs, a beagle, Duke and a boxer mix, Lucy; numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Edward, Anthony, and Michael Mannella and two sisters, Anna and Florence Mannella.

Friends are welcome on Friday, August 15, 2014 from 4:00 " 8:00 PM in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra Owner/Supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg where departing prayers will begin at 9:00 AM on Saturday, August 16, 2014 with military honors accorded by the VFW Post 191 Honor Guard beginning at 8:45 AM. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated immediately following at 9:30 AM in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Parish, 317 West Pike Street, Canonsburg. Entombment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray.
