Eugene H. “Brownie” Brown 89 of Canonsburg passed away peacefully at 10:05 pm Saturday July 18, 2015 in the Washington County Heath Center following an extended illness. He was born October 23, 1925 in Elizabeth a son of the late James T. and Marie Deffobis Brown and lived in Muse during his youth. Unable to finish high school due to his service during World War II where he proudly served with the United States Coast Guard serving from 1942 thru 1946, Mr. Brown received his GED in 2002. He had been employed for 11 years with Prudential Insurance on the south side of Canonsburg before moving to California where he was in security for United Technology then, to become staff manager for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. Prior to his retirement Mr. Brown was administrative specialist for IBM. He enjoyed hunting small game with his father and brother and was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 in Canonsburg. Mr. Brown was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, a former member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Muse Independent Club where he enjoyed playing cards with his friends.
On February 24, 1944 he married Rosella J. Ladich who survives. Also surviving to cherish his memory are two daughters Maureen (Frank) Andronas and Rosella Marie (William) Wentz both of Canonsburg, three sons; James H. (Lisa) Brown of Euless Texas, William W. (Keri) Brown of Sutherlin Oregon and Kenneth G. Brown at home twelve grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Brown was the last of his immediate family. Deceased are two brothers James Brown who died in infancy and Howard Brown.
Friends are welcome from 1pm until 8pm Wednesday July 22, 2015 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, Lin Webb funeral director 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where departing prayers will be recited at 10:30 am Thursday July 23, 2015. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11am Thursday in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church 317 West Pike Street Canonsburg followed at 12:30 by interment in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville. Memorial contributions are suggested to be made to the Alzheimer’s Unit c/o Washington County Health Center 36 Old Hickory Ridge Road Washington PA. 15301.
