Ernest Norkus, 97  passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2017.

He was born on October 16, 1919 in Pittsburgh to George and Ursula Maciulis Norkus who preceded him in death.

He was a U. S. veteran having served in the Army. He served in the European theatre throughout World War II. On a leave from the war he married his sweetheart and life-long soulmate Lucy J. Urbanek Norkus on November 13, 1944.  She preceded him in death on September 24, 2009.

He received his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in 1953 from the University of Pittsburgh. He continued a life of self-education excelling in multiple skills.

Ernie’s greatest accomplishments, just like Lucy’s emanates from his primary commitment and devotion to family, respect, kindness, generosity and gentility to all those he encountered.

He is survived by his son George J. (Janet) Norkus, a daughter Nancy J. Norkus (the late Richard Wile), a granddaughter Lisa (Matthew) Guzzo and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Dr. Nellie Norkus, Stanley Norkus, Albert Norkus, Adele Norkus LaCasse, Edward Norkus, Richard Norkus and Florence York.

A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Ernest and Lucy will be held on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Louise DeMarillac Church, 320 McMurray, Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15241. Everyone please meet at the church. Interment will be private.
