Ernest P. Koren

June 30, 1926 — June 23, 2011

Ernest P. Koren age 84 of Canonsburg, died June 23, 2011 in his home surrounded by his family.
He was born June 30, 1926 in Canonsburg, the son of the late Paul L. and Mary Hornyak Koren.
Mr. Koren graduated from Canonsburg High School and the Kansas Institute of Electronics in Kansas City, Kansas, which after served with the Navy Air Force during World War II as a radio man.
He was employed by RCA and Tac Tec in Meadowlands and retired from Sears Service Center in McMurray.
Mr. Koren lived most of his life in Canonsburg, where he was a member of St. Patrick Church and American Legion Post 902 of Houston.
He will be remembered by all who knew him as a kind and compassionate friend.
On June 30, 1952 in St. Patrick Church he married Nancy Cass who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, William (Emay) Koren of Virginia; Russell (Deborah) Koren of Washington; twin daughters, Karen (Jonn) Mansfield of North Strabane; and Karol (Terry) Snead of South Park; five grandchildren, Katherine, Jacquelyn, Elizabeth, Matthew and Michael Mansfield, two sisters, Elizabeth Homerosky and Hazel (Jerry) LaSalvia both of Canonsburg.
Preceding him in death in addition to his parents was step-mother, Mary Michlowisz, three brothers, Paul, Alex and George Koren.
Friends are welcome on Sunday, June 26, 2011 from 2:00 to 4:00PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Salandra Funeral Service, Inc.; Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where a Blessing Service will take place Monday, June 27, 2011 at 9:30 AM. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 AM in St. Patrick Church, Canonsburg. Entombment will follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Twp. Family suggest donations be made to Community Scholarship Foundation of Canon-McMillan School District 1 North Jefferson Ave. Canonsburg, Pa. 15317 in memory of Ernest. Full Military Rites will be accorded by the combined honor guard of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 of Canonsburg and American Legion Post 902 of Houston.
