Erma Falcocchio age 87 of Muse passed away Monday January 27, 2014 in Allegheny General Hospital with her family at her side. She was born April 29, 1926 in Black Diamond, Washington County, a daughter of the late Antonio and Clara (Fedon) Spadoni. Mrs. Falcocchio was a lifelong resident of Muse where she was a member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church the Christian Mothers and Alter Society. She was a graduate of Cecil High School class of 1944 and during World War II worked in the Defense plant making shells for the Navy Department. For 18 years she worked at the former Santoni's and Holman's in Muse. Prior to her retirement in 1996 she had been employed for 22 years at Sarris Candies in Canonsburg.
Mrs. Falcocchio involved herself in many community activities. For many years she portrayed Mrs. Clause at various venues to the delight of many children. She was a charter member and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Muse Volunteer Fire Department #2, where she was honored as Mother of the Year in 1989. She had been a charter member of the Italian Independent Women's Auxiliary, a member of the former Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Canonsburg 1211, St. Mary's Hilltoppers of Cecil, GOL which she hosted in her home the past 8 years and Senior Citizens of Muse. Mrs. Falcocchio volunteered for the Canonsburg Library branch in Cecil, the Canonsburg General Hospital Rehabilitation Unit and served many years on the Washington County Board of Elections precinct 5 in Cecil Twp.
On November 3, 1946 she married Attilio (Teo) Falcocchio who passed away February 10, 1995. Surviving are three daughters; JoAnn Markovich of Bridgeville, Roberta DeJohn of Washington and Karen Macerelli of Collier Twp., eight grandchildren; Michelle Markovich, Renee (Mark) Pollack Julie (Kerry) Vaugh, Jason (Dianna) Markovich, Matthew and Nicole DeJohn, Karla and Scott Macerelli, four great grandsons; Rocco and Joshua Markovich, Levi and Victor Vaughn and several nieces and nephews. She was the last of her immediate family. Deceased in addition to her husband and parents are a sister Margaret Hrabcsak and a brother Robert Spadoni.
Friends are welcome from 2-8pm Thursday January 30, 2014 in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where departing prayers will be recited at 9:25am. Friday January 31, 2014. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am in Holy Rosary Church, Muse with reverend George T. DeVille. Pastor, as celebrant. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project of Pittsburgh 301 Grant Street Pittsburgh, PA. 15219 or Peters Twp. Meals on Wheels.
