Emma C. Mavrich, 101, of Strabane passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 in Golden Living Center, Canonsburg.
She was born on May 7, 1914 in Morgantown, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Tony and Elizabeth Herrnberger.
Emma was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Canonsburg. She was also a member of both the SNPJ and KSKJ clubs in Strabane for over 50 years. Emma retired from KSKJ as a janitor, where she also spent time tending bar. In earlier years, she enjoyed bowling and attending polka dances with her husband. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, and spending time with her family.
On August 29, 1936 she married Joseph H. Mavrich, who passed away on October 18, 2000.
Surviving are two beloved children, Kenneth J. Mavrich of Strabane and Beverly L. Hartman of Baltimore, Maryland; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a niece.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Joseph H. Mavrich, III, who passed away on September 9, 2014; and two sisters, Marge Fazzalori and Pauline Morton. Emma was the last of her immediate family.
Friends are welcome from 5:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, October 22, 2015 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, Lin Webb funeral director, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where a Catholic blessing service will begin at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 23, 2015. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Canonsburg.
