Emile "Frenchie" Charriere

Emile "Frenchie" Charriere age 92 of Houston passed away Monday, October 15, 2012 at Manor Care in McMurray. He was born June 21, 1920 in Houston a son of the late Emile and Martha Volle Charriere. Mr. Charriere lived his entire life in Houston and prior to his retirement in 1983 had been an expeditor the former McGraw Edison Power Systems and Cooper Industries in Canonsburg. He served with the United States Army and was a member of the American Legion post 902 in Houston and the VFW post 191 in Canonsburg.
Mr. Charriere was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Polish National Catholic Church where he had been an usher and enjoyed making pirogies and he was a 50 member of the church dart ball team. He was proud of his French heritage and visited his home village of Ales Gard, France in 1993. He was a member of the White Eagles Society and the PNU in Canonsburg. Mr. Charriere always had a smile and will be missed by his many friends, especially those at Alexander's Heath Club. On June 28, 1941 he married Stella M. Kordella who died November 19, 2003.
Mr. Charriere is survived by his daughter Donna L. (Norman) DiNardo of Houston and his son Barry L. (Barb) Charriere of Canonsburg, four grandchildren; Darci (Alan) Vezzi, Nichole (Steve) Pardon, Brent (Erica) and Brandon Cherriere, seven great grandchildren; Emily and Justin Vezzi, Jacob and Max Pardon, Ava, Anna and Landon Charriere and several nieces and nephews. He was the last of his immediate family. Deceased in addition to his wife are two sisters Yvette Matanin and Yvonne Miskolitz and a brother Charles Charriere.
Friends are welcome from 6-8pm Wednesday and 2-4 and 6-8pm Thursday in Salandra funeral Service, inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/ supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where departing prayers will be held at 10:30 am Friday October 19, 2012 followed by a mass of Christian burial at 11am in Sacred Heart of Jesus Polish National Catholic Church with Father Senior Richard Seiler Jr., pastor, as celebrant. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Family suggests memorial contributions be made to Sacred Heart of Jesus Polish National Catholic Church 173 East College Street Canonsburg.
