Elsie A. Vasuta, of Canonsburg, died Wednesday January 19, 2011 in St. Claire Memorial Hospital, Mt. Lebanon. She was born December 27, 1932 in Canonsburg a daughter of the late William and Anna Superick Vasuta. Miss Vasuta lived her life in Canonsburg where she was an active member of St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church. She was a 1951 graduate of Canonsburg High School and was employed at the former McGraw Edison Power Systems and Cooper Industries. Prior to her retirement Miss Vasuta was employed by Chartiers-Houston School District. She was an avid sports enthusiast and a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. She enjoyed theatre including the Civic Light Opera and the River City Brass Band.
Elsie was the last of her immediate family. Deceased in addition to her parents are three brothers, Joseph, William and John Vasuta and a sister who died in infancy.
At the request of the deceased there will be no public visitation. A blessing service will be held at 9am Saturday January 22, 2010 in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 724-745-8120 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg. Divine Liturgy will follow at 9:30 am in St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church with the Reverend Joseph Jugan, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery.
