Elizabeth Kish Zubenko age 81 of Strabane, died Friday November 12, 2010 in the University of Pittsburgh, Presbyterian Medical Center. She was born May 17, 1929 in
Canonsburg, a daughter of the late John and Julie Meszaros Kish. Mrs. Zubenko lived most of her life in Strabane and was a member of St John the Baptist Orthodox Church.
She was a graduate of Canonsburg High School and prior to her retirement, had been employed for over 30 years as a Bell Telephone operator in Canonsburg, Washington and Pittsburgh. She served as treasurer for the Bell Telephone Operators of Canonsburg Group, was a member of the Bell Telephone Operators 10 Year Club of Washington, the Bell Telephone Pioneers and enjoyed playing bridge.
On July 14, 1951 she married William Zubenko, who survives. Also surviving are two sons William David (Barbara) Zubenko of Hudson Ohio and Robert Joseph (Christina) Zubenko of Frankfort Illinois, a sister, Mary (Ray) Howard of Orlando Florida, Five grand children, David, Mark, Josh, Daniel and Jennifer Zubenko and many nieces and nephews. Deceased are two sisters, Julia M. Cushma and Clara Arrowsmith.
