Elizabeth M. (Betty) Marshall age 89 of Washington, formerly of Canonsburg, died Saturday, November 21, 2009 in Strabane Woods.
She was born September 12, 1920 in Loyalhanna, Pa., the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Kraynak.
Mrs. Marshall worked for 15 years for Federal Paper and 10 years at Western Center.
During World War II she worked at Neville Island ship yard as a "Rosie the Riveter".
Mrs. Marshall lived most of her life in Canonsburg and was a life long member of St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church.
She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, especially cooking family dinners for all of them.
On March 21, 1942 she married Roy Marshall who died on October 20, 1971.
Surviving are her children; Roy E. (Monica) Marshall of Washington; Liz (Tony) Lombardi of Canonsburg; Brad J. ( Debbie) Marshall of Canonsburg; seven grand children; Beth (Steve) Dempe, Toni (Patrick) McGowan, Jason (Lisa) Lombardi, Leah (Chad) Stout, Kara Marshall, Lizanne and Vance Marshall; seven great-grandchildren; Brandon Dempe, Brianna Dempe, Ryan McGowan, Jaylese, Roman and Malina Lombardi and Kaylee Stout; two sisters, Mary Toplisek of Canonsburg and Ethel Grossek of Cecil.
Deceased are two sisters, Margaret Dayak and Anne Alteri and three brothers, Joseph, Steve and John Kraynak.
Friends are welcome on Monday, November 23, 2009 from 2:00 to 8:00 PM in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120, where a Blessing Service will be held on Tuesday, November 24, 2009 at 9:00 AM, followed by Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 9:30 AM in St. Michael's Byzantine Catholic Church, with Father Joseph Jugan officiating.
