Elizabeth L. (Liz) Crider

April 20, 1923 — December 15, 2013

Elizabeth L "Liz" Crider age 90 of Canonsburg, passed away at 6:20am Sunday 15, 2013 in Golden Living of South Hills Canonsburg after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born April 20, 1923 in Cuddy the youngest daughter of the late Frank and Mary Gazvoda Bozic. She lived her life in the Canonsburg area and was a 1941 graduate of Canonsburg High School. Mrs. Crider was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church and the churches Christian Mothers and Guild. During World War II she had been employed at the Parker Appliance Co. Defense Industry in Cleveland, Ohio. Prior to her retirement, after 34 years, she had been employed as a group leader at the former RCA Plant in Canonsburg's record plant and in the Meadowlands facility. She enjoyed playing her button box accordion, polka dancing, and traveling. Mrs. Crider was a lifelong member of the SNPJ lodge 138 of Strabane, the RCA Retirees club, the American Legion post 902 in Houston and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. She very much enjoyed traveling to Europe, the Caribbean, Mexico, Hawaii, and the Canary Islands and visited her fathers' farm in Slovenia.
On January 1, 1943 in St. Peters Roman Catholic Church in Columbia S. C. she married Sergeant Vincent L. Crider who died October 24, 1971. Surviving are her son Vincent R. (Connie Schofield) Crider and a granddaughter Katherine "Kate" Crider of Canonsburg in addition to three nieces; Mary Fran Watson of Fla., Peggy and Kayla Ruffalo of Strabane and a dear friend and companion, Hommer Bittner of Florida. Deceased in addition to her husband and parents are a sister Mary Margaret "Marge" Florganic, two nieces Carol Pavlosky and Debbie Maverich and a nephew Mark Maverich.
Friends are welcome from 2-4 and 4-8pm Tuesday in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where departing prayers will be recited on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at 10:30 am followed at 11 am by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Patrick Church. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery Canonsburg. The Christian Mothers and Guild of St. Patrick Church will recite the rosary at 3 pm Tuesday in the funeral home. Family suggest donations be made to Slovenian Radio Program or to St. Patrick's Christian Mothers and Women Guild.
