Elaine M. (Battista) Basso

Elaine M. Basso, 87, of Houston passed away on Friday, July 21, 2017 in Presbyterian Senior Care in Washington.

She was born on February 15, 1930 in Muse to Paul and Margaret Castelli Battista who preceded her in death.

On August 4, 1951 she married Bruno Basso who passed away on December 15, 1993.

Mrs. Basso was a faithful member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Muse where she was a member of the Christian Mothers Guild. She also was a devoted volunteer at the spaghetti dinners held at the church. In her spare time, she loved to read. She also enjoyed Pittsburgh Pirate baseball.

She is survived by two sons Daniel G. Basso (Cassandra) of Canonsburg, Robert G. Basso of Oakdale and two daughters Tina Schultz of Hickory and Lorie Mele (Robert) of Houston, one sister Rose Lowry of Florida, sister-in-laws Mary Selva and Margaret Battista, seven grandchildren, Bill Schultz, Rebekah Dille, Nicholas Basso, Angela Mariani, Tony Basso, Bobby Mele, Ryan Mele and two great grandchildren Donovan and Dayton Dille and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Paul and Raymond Battista and Ray Selva and her sisters Catherine Thomas, Renato Selva and Primo Selva.

Friends are welcome from 1~ 4 PM and 6~8 PM on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120 where departing prayers will begin at 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday, July 26, 2017. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 246 Muse-Bishop Road, Muse. Entombment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery in McMurray.
