Edward Hanley, age 86 of Canonsburg died unexpectedly Tuesday December 15, 2009 in his home. He was born July 28, 1923 in Canonsburg a son of the late Edward and Ethyl Styles Hanley and lived his entire life in Canonsburg.
Mr. Hanley attended Canonsburg schools and served with the United States Navy during World War II. Prior to his retirement he had been employed at the former RCA plant in Canonsburg and Washington and TAC TEC Communications in the shipping department. He was a member of the VFW post 191 in Canonsburg and the American Legion post 902 in Houston.
On October 11, 1950 he married Margaret "Peggy" Campbell who died October 27, 2008. Surviving are a daughter Sheree (James) Klaric of Chesapeake VA and a son, Edward J. (Wendy) Hanley of Tiffin, Ohio, five grandchildren, Christopher, Jessica and Casey Klaric and Drew and Alison Hanley and a sister Loretta McMullen.
Friends are welcome from 6-8pm Friday in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg where services will be held at 12:30 pm Saturday December 19, 2009 with the Honor Guard Chaplin officiating. Full Military Rites will be accorded by the VFW post 191 of Canonsburg and the American Legion post 902 of Houston Honor Guard. Entombment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Twp.
