Edward J. Cushman, 89, of Canonsburg passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 in TownView Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born December 17, 1924 in Canonsburg, a son of the late Andrew and Helen Goldbach Cushman. Mr. Cushman lived his life in Canonsburg where he was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic and attended Canonsburg schools. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and prior to his retirement had been employed at the former McGraw Edison Power Systems and Cooper Industries, where he was and expeditor. He was a member of the Canonsburg Senior Citizens where he was an avid dart ball player every Tuesday and Friday. He enjoyed gardening, yard work and walking and most especially spending time with his beloved family.
On November 22, 1952 he married Dorothy Kissella who passed away November 3, 1999. Surviving are a daughter Denise Ann Adams of Houston, Three sons: David Edward (Peggy) Cushman of Houston, Donald Joseph Cushman and Daniel Paul Cushman, both of Canonsburg, four grandchildren; Daniel Marton, Jessica and Jenna Adams and Kristen Cushman, a brother, William a Cushman and several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to his wife and parents are two brothers; Robert Cushman and James Hartman and four sisters; Dorothy Kemis, Catherine Comfort, Ann Kelvington, and Helen Gallo.
Friends are welcome from 2-4 and 6-8pm Friday in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where departing prayers will be recited at 9 am Saturday, July 26, 2014. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 am Saturday in St. Patrick Church 317 West Pike Street Canonsburg. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 2pm Friday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Canonsburg Senior Citizens or Amedisys Hospice Care 275 Meadowlands Blvd. Washington, Pa. 15317.
