Dorothy I. Luzer age 87 of Canonsburg passed away peacefully at 9:00 pm Saturday September 17, 2016 in the home of her daughter following an extended illness. She was born August 26, 1929 in Canonsburg a daughter of the late Hiram and Mae Smith Brown. Mrs. Luzer lived her entire life in Canonsburg and graduated from Canonsburg High School. She was a member of the Keystone Baptist Church in Washington. For many years she had been employed in sales and accounting at the former Rosner’s Dress Shop. Mrs. Luzer enjoyed attending church, reading and going to the library with her granddaughter. On November 22, 1947 she married Richard Luzer, who passed away June 6, 2002. Left behind to cherish her memory is her daughter Cathy J. (Randy) Bell with whom she made her home, her son Jeffrey A Luzer of Haysville Kansas, a sister Shirley J. Brown of Houston, five grandchildren Jennifer (Doug) Johnson, Melissa (Mike) Hall, Amy Anderson, Ian Luzer, and Derrick Luzer, 10 great grandchildren, two great granddaughters, her dear friend Rosemary Nikas and several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to her husband and parents is her son Richard J. Luzer Jr. and a brother Robert S. Brown.
Friends are welcome from 2-8pm Wednesday September 21, 2016 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where services will be held at 11am Thursday September 22, 2016 with reverend Rick Kauffman, pastor of Keystone Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. Memorial Contributions in Mrs. Luzer’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
