Dorothy M. Hunter age 79 of Muse, died unexpectedly Sunday April 26, 2009 at her home. She was born September 23, 1929 in Canonsburg, a daughter of William E. and Emma Jane Prescott Johnson.
Mrs. Hunter lived her entire life in Muse where she was a member of Muse Presbyterian Church. Prior to her retirement she had been employed for 35 years in the Physical Therapy Department of Canonsburg General Hospital.
She had been involved for many years with the 4th of July Committee, Cecil Ambulance Service, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Muse Volunteer Fire Department # 2 and had been a Cub scout den mother.
Surviving are two sons; Thomas (Judy) Hunter and Randy Hunter, both of Muse; a sister Margaret E. Bojinski of Muse: four grandsons; T.J., Chris, Chip and Randy Hunter; nine great-grandchildren, her buddy Sharon Browning and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are a sister Velma Jordan and four brothers, John, William, George and Harry E. Johnson.
Friends are welcome from 2-8pm Tuesday in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg. Additional visitation will be held from 9-10am, time of service in the Muse Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Susan Kidder-Petritis officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Spring Cemetery. A service will be held at 7:30pm Tuesday in the funeral home with Pastor Linda Mankey officiating. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Muse Presbyterian church.
