Doris Bennett Green age 86, of Houston, died Saturday, January 22, 2011 in her home surrounded by her family.
She was born of Cherokee descent on a Cherokee reservation on August 10, 1924 in Birdtown, North Carolina, the daughter of General and Julia McCoy Bradley.
Mrs. Green was a graduate of Cherokee Indian High School of Cherokee, N.C.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Canonsburg and lived most of her life in Houston.
Mrs. Green enjoyed cooking, crocheting, doll making and quilt making especially for her children and their families.
Surviving are three sons, David Lee Green of Houston; Glen Harry (Esther) Green of Fayette City; John Fredrick Green of Raritan, N.J.; two daughters, Norma (Vince) Pitzarella of Finleyville; Peggy (Jerry) Suarez of Linden, Mich.; 13 grandchildren, Michael and Robert Thomassy, Shari and Gary Suarez, David Justin Green, Pamela Weller, Thomas Sabolek, Christina Cassin, Georgina Thomas, Holly Sabolek, Michael Sawyer, Alexander and Nicholas Green; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, General David Bradley of Bryson City, N.C.; Fredrick Jackson Bradley of Cherokee, N.C.; three sisters, Gerturde Fann of Johnson City, Tenn.; Vivian McCullough of Cherokee, N.C.; Lucille Faye (Thomas) Queen of Ashville, N.C.; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are her beloved husband, Clemith A Green who passed away in 1993, daughter, Virginia Green and brother, William Lee Bradley.
Friends are welcome on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Salandra Funeral Service Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120, where Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
