Donald F. "Pappy" Meier age 80 of Canonsburg passed away Friday October 12, 2012 in his home surrounded by his family.
He was born July 26, 1932 in Pittsburgh a son of the late Fred H. and Hilda Brenk Meier. Mr. Meier lived most of his life in the Houston and Canonsburg area. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran church where he had taught Bible study. He was a graduate of Chartiers High School class of 1951 and had attended Duquesne University and Triangle Tech. Mr. Meier was a registered land surveyor. He enjoyed singing in Barbershop Quartets and was a frequent diner at Pike Inn. He enjoyed spending time with his family and dearly loved his granddaughters.
Surviving are five children Keith (Donna) Meier of Washington, Becky (Randy) Bell and Brian Meier both of Canonsburg, Denis Meier and Eric (Julie) Meier both of Washington, six granddaughters; Laura Hathaway, Alyson Desmond, Nichole and Emily Bell, and Cameron and Colby Meier, six great grandchildren, his sister Kay Wyrwas of Canonsburg and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are welcome from 6-8pm Sunday and from 2-4 and 6-8pm Monday in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg, where services will be held at 11am Tuesday October 16, 2012 with Vicar Richard Egtvedt officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Amedisys Hospice 275 Meadowlands Blvd. Washington, PA 15301 or the American Diabetes Association
