Dominic A. Dorazio known as Big Dom, age 83 of Houston passed away peacefully, Saturday morning, November 2, 2024, in Washington Hospital. He was born November 3, 1940, in Scenery Hill, a son of the late Ralph J. and Jean Contestabile Dorazio. Dominic was a graduate of Ellsworth High School and was a proud United States Air Force veteran. He lived most of his life in Houston and was Catholic. Prior to his retirement, after 30 years he had been employed with the former McGraw Edison Power Systems as a Winder. Dom was a legendary outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, Jeopardy and being at his camp in Elk County. He was a life member of the Canonsburg Sportsman Association and a member of Wounded Warriors and the Keystone Paralyzed Vets. Big Dom had a contagious laugh that could light up a room and most of all enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. On June 17, 1959, he married the love of his life, Patricia Ann Layton who passed away March 14, 2023. Left behind to cherish his memory are his devoted children, Mark (Susan) Dorazio of Scenery Hill, Velvet (Joseph) Oliverio of Louisville, Ohio, Christopher (Moriah) Dorazio of Kingwood W Va, Sherri (Dom) Dorazio of McDonald and April (Joe) Madison of Houston, nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, two sisters, Regina Cicci of Canonsburg and Dolores Powell of Fairbanks Alaska and several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to his wife and parents is his grandson, Jeffrey J. Madison who died March 13, 2013.

Friends and family are welcome from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 PM Wednesday November 6, 2024, at SALANDRA FUNERAL and CREMATION SERVICES, INC. Joseph P. Salandra LFD owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg (724) 745-8120. Military Honors will be conducted by the VFW Post 191 Honor Guard and the United States Air Force at 2 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
