Dolores J. “Lori” Frohnapfel, 73 of Canonsburg passed away suddenly on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 in Canonsburg Hospital.

She was born on August 7, 1943 in Pittsburgh to Joseph and Madaline Zovko Bartnicki who preceded her in death.

On June 4, 1966 she married Edward H. Frohnapfel who survives.

Dolores was a proud graduate of Allegheny General Hospital School of Nursing in 1964. She worked as a Registered Nurse at Allegheny General Hospital for her entire career which spanned 39 years. At her time of retirement she was Manager of Hospital Services off tours. She served as President of the Allegheny General Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Association for many years.

She was a faithful member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Canonsburg.

Dolores enjoyed exercising with her husband and specifically the martial art Tai Chi. They enjoyed spending time together on vacation in Cooks Forrest. She treasured her time spent with her grandchildren as well.

In addition to her husband she is survived by sons Edward H. Frohnapfel, Jr., David S. Frohnapfel (Leigh Ann) , Cheryl A. Welch (Phillip), Barbara A. Zappa (Damon) all of Canonsburg, Lynn A. Frohnapfel (Jason) of Pittsburgh, one brother Joseph Bartnicki of Plano, Texas, two sisters, Jane Lacher (Robert) of Freemont, California, Kathleen Nowak (Daniel) of Monroeville six grandchildren, Amber Sutton, MacKenzie Welch, Chelsea Welch, Eric Frohnapfel, and Ryan Zappa, Zachary Zappa, nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister Mary Lou “Gigi” Szmit and brother in law Lou Szmit.

Friends are welcome from 2-8 PM Friday, January 27, 2017 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg 724-745-8120, where departing prayers will begin at 9:00a.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2017. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 317 West Pike Street, Canonsburg.
