David J. Progar age 63 of Canonsburg, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Thursday, January 05, 2012.
He was born on October 13, 1948 in Canonsburg, the son of the late John S. and Mary Patricia Sweton (Cveton) Progar.
Mr. Progar lived most of his life in Canonsburg, graduating from Canon- McMillan High school class of 1966. He is also a graduate of Ohio State University receiving a Bachelor's degree in Political Science, then receiving his Master degree from Widener University in Health Care Administrator.
Mr. Progar joined the National Guard and served with them for more then 10 years. He retired from St. Mary's of Erie as Health Care provider.
He was a member of SNPJ Lodge 138 and the KSKJ Lodge both of Strabane and also enjoyed watching Ohio State University sporting events.
Surviving are brother, Donald (Vianna Bandi) Progar of Strabane, niece, Selina Progar and nephew, Christopher Progar.
Friends are welcome on Sunday, January 8, 2012 from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at Salandra Funeral Service, Inc.; Joseph P. Salandra owner/ supervisor, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where a Blessing Service will be held on Monday, January 9, 2012 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Canonsburg.
