David G. “Brother Dave” Melvin, 60, of Muse passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 11, 2016 in UPMC Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born on December 21, 1955 in Washington, the son of Beata J. Karl Melvin of Canonsburg and the late Frank W. Melvin, Jr.
Dave grew up in Canonsburg and had resided in Muse for the last ten years. He was a graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School. He was a former employee of the Meadows Race Track where he was a trainer and driver. Dave was currently employed as a dispatcher with Weavertown Environmental Group.
Dave was an avid sports fan. He loved the Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors and fishing.
Surviving are three sisters, Susan (J.T.) Totterdale of Canonsburg, Penny Richmond of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Terry Melvin of Canonsburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his long-time companion, Debra Turner, with whom he shared a home.
