David Lawrence Houlihan, 63, of Canonsburg passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2014 in Mon General Hospital in Morgantown, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on January 14, 1951 in Canonsburg, the son of the late Lawrence J. (Margaret Loney) Houlihan and Elizabeth J. Durbin (William A.) Krause.
Dave retired from Overnight Transportation with over 30 devoted years of service. He was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Parish. He enjoyed music, hunting, and the Civil War. Dave was active in his community and spent countless hours volunteering with the local Boy Scouts.
Surviving are his two beloved children, Christopher S. (Lisa J.) Houlihan of Pittsburgh and Katharine E. (Jason E. Seik) Houlihan of Easton, PA; his nieces and nephews, April (Steven) Thompson of Canonsburg, Andrew (Valerie) Chappo of Canonsburg, Mark D. Ward, IV of Canonsburg, Bonnie (Grant Franklin) Houlihan of Morgantown, WV, Ashleigh Houlihan of Tallahassee, FL, and Lisa Houlihan of Las Vegas, NV; and his great nieces and nephews, Tyler, Tessa, Cassie, Nina, Brooke, Meghan, and Michael.
In addition to his parents, a brother, Michael J. Houlihan, is also deceased.
Friends are welcome on Thursday, August 21, 2014 from 5:00-8:00 PM and on Friday, August 22, 2014 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra Owner/Supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where departing prayers will begin at 9:00 AM on Saturday, August 23, 2014. A Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 9:30 AM in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Parish, 317 West Pike Street , Canonsburg. Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Canonsburg.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society with funds being allocated to lung cancer research (www.cancer.org).
