Daniel J. Malone age 75 of Irving, TX; formerly of Canonsburg, passed away on July 17, 2013.
He was May 22, 1938 in Canonsburg, the son of the late James A. and Carmel DeVitis Malone, Sr.
Mr. Malone's aviation career began as a NAVCAD in Pensacola, Florida in 1958. After 8 years as a Navy pilot, flying P2V's and S2F's, he joined Braniff International Airlines in Dallas. Later flew with Piedmont Airlines in Charlotte, North Carolina flying 737's. With the Airline merger, Mr. Malone retired November 1995 from US Airways.
He was an astronomy buff, enjoyed Cowboy Action shooting and golfing with friends. Mr. Malone was a friend to everyone and had a very generous nature.
He is survived by his wife, Helen- Rose Saver, who celebrated their 53rd wedding Anniversary on July 16, 2013. He his also survived by sister, Mary Ellen (Bob) Zinn, sister-in-laws, Barbara (Ron) Cianelli and Lois Malone 5 nieces, 4 nephews 9 great grand nieces and 4 great grand nephews.
Deceased in addition to his parents are sister, Rose Anne (Malone) Laidella and brother, James A. Malone, Jr.
Friends are welcome on Saturday, July 27, 2013 from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM the time of the Blessing Service at Salandra Funeral Service, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120. Interment will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Canonsburg. Full Military Honors will be accorded by the combined Honor Guards VFW Post 191 of Canonsburg and American Legion Post 902 of Houston. In lieu flowers family suggest donations be to ones choice or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
