Colin W. Lewis, 72, of Portland, New York, formerly of Canonsburg, passed away in his daughter's home on Monday, February 16, 2015 surrounded by his loving family, following an extended illness..

He was born in Venetia on June 3, 1942, a son of the late Obed and Eleanor Patton Lewis.

Colin spent most of his life in the Canonsburg area. For the last three years he resided in Portland, NY, where he was a member of the Portland Congregational Church.

A home builder by trade, he was the owner of the Colin Lewis Construction Company. He also enjoyed wood working and was an avid coin collector.

Colin's passion was horses. He loved raising, riding, and breeding Harlen Quarter Horses. He was a member of the Contest Riders Association.

On December 3, 1991 he married Diane Schmieler Lewis, who survives.

Also surviving are his four children, David (Denise) Lewis of Canonsburg, Jayson (Randi) Roach of Sorrento, FL, Robane (Adam) Beroza of Sperryville, VA, and Pam (Jeff) Wudkwych of Canonsburg; two brothers, Obed (Dolly) Lewis of Finleyville and Benjamin (Norma) Lewis of Finleyville; two sisters, Marie Rhodes of Finleyville and Charlene Jones of Nebraska; 12 grandchildren, John Lewis, Jason Rionda, Aaron Rionda, David Lewis, II, Declan Lewis, Delaney Lewis, Gabe Beroza, Jessie LaVecchia, Jenna LaVecchia, Brittanie Wudkwych, Brian Wudkwych, and Terin Reusch; two great grandchildren, Mason and Lillyawna; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Colin was preceded in death by his daughter, Sherrie Lewis; two sisters, Erma Orndoff and Verna Stilley, and a brother, William Lewis who passed away in infancy.

Friends are welcome from 11:00 AM " 4:00 PM on Saturday, February 21, 2015 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra Owner/Supervisor, Lin Webb Funeral Director, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where a funeral service will begin at 4:00 PM, immediately following the visitation.
