Claudette Lee Shook, age 62, of Houston, PA passed away at 11:19 PM Wednesday August 8, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 31, 1950 in Chicago Illinois a daughter of Ercole (Art) and Naomi Ann Lee Grassi of Canonsburg. She was a graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School and Penn Commercial in Washington. Mrs. Shook lived most of her life in Houston with duel residency in Miami Beach Florida for the past decade. She had been a teller for many years at the former Meadows Racetrack, was in retail fashion at the Casual Corner and at the time of her death was employed as a cashier at the Meadows Racetrack and Casino. She was a member of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Roman Catholic Church in Meadowlands and enjoyed her grandchildren, family, shopping, traveling, dancing and dining with friends. She loved to organize yearly Christmas parties for children, family and friends at the Alpine Club. On December 31, 1990 she married Joseph Shook who survives. Surviving in addition to her husband and parents are three daughters; Stacy Lee Proia (Chad Piotrowski) of Washington, Corbi (Thomas) Iannetta of McMurray, and Kelly J. Gregorakis of Coconut Grove, Florida., two sons; Joseph S. Shook of Coconut Grove, Florida and Stanley P. (Lisa) Shook of Washington, two sisters; Marie Spiker of Eighty-Four, Edna Nixon of Panama City, Florida, a brother Nelson Grassi of Charlotte, North Carolina, a sister-in-law Beverly (Sam) Romano twelve grandchildren; Isabella Love, Jaden Anthony, Rocco, Emilio, Mary Lou, James, Aubrey, Josstan, Madison, Sydney, Kaitlyn and Kirstyn, three great grandchildren; Isabella Rose, Gabriella and Liam; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She also leaves behind her cousin and best friend, Jack Cargnoni and three special girlfriends: Lois, Bobbi and Kathy among many other girlfriends, and you all know who you are. Deceased is her son- in- law James (Noochie) Gregorakis and brother-in-law Carl Spiker
At the request of the deceased, there will be a private family blessing service Saturday morning with Reverend Carmen D'Amico, pastor of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal church officiating. Friends are welcome from 12 Noon until 4 PM Saturday, August 11, 2012 in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120. A Celebration Reception in honor of Claudette's Life, open to all friends and family, will follow the visitation at 5 PM Saturday at Julian's Banquet Hall 78 West Maiden Street, Washington. In lieu of flowers, family requests that donations be made in recognition of Claudette to cancer research or favorite cancer charity.
