Clarence M. "Dick" Carr

Clarence M. "Dick" Carr Jr. age 73 of Canonsburg unexpectedly went with the Lord on Friday October 21, 2011 in Shadyside Hospital Pittsburgh. He was born February 4, 1938 in Canonsburg the only son of the late Clarence M. and Margaret Kerner Carr Sr. Mr. Carr lived his entire life in Canonsburg where he was a member of St. Patrick Church. He was a graduate of Canonsburg High School class of 1957 and served with the U.S. Army reserves from 1960 thru 1966. He was a member of the American Legion post 902 of Houston and the Jefferson College Historical Society.
Mr. Carr was had been in the masonry field for over fifty years and was a member of Local 9 of Pittsburgh. His hobbies included making items out of granite, brick and wood. He made numerous crosses in his lifetime, many of which he gave to family and friends, including those in front of St. Patrick Church in honor of his late daughter. He was most proud of his angel lamps. Above all he was gentle, kind and faithful to all and was his family's hero, rock and committed provider.
On October 2, 1965 he married Donna Marie Stevens who survives. Also surviving are two daughters Margaret Susan Carr of Canonsburg, Mary Beth (J.D.) Verholtz of Strabane, a son David Clarence (Chanin) Carr of Port Orange Florida, dearly loved grandsons Dylan and Matthew, two nieces; Lisa Stevens and Michelle Saunders, and a nephew, Robert Stevens. Deceased in addition to his parents is his daughter Jennifer Marie Carr, who past away July 25, 2009, a brother-in- law Ronald Stevens and a nephew Raymond Stevens.
He also leaves behind his devoted companion "Schnapps".
At the request of the deceased private family visitation will be held at Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120 were a blessing service will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday October26, 2011. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am Wednesday in St. Patrick
church. Interment will follow in Oak Spring Cemetery. Memorial contributions should be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis TN 38105-3678.
