Charlotte D. Zubenko age 90 of Canonsburg, died October 10, 2010 in Clarence, N.Y., surrounded by her family.
She was born January 28, 1920 in Canonsburg, the daughter of the late Henry and Charlotte P. Deakin.
Mrs. Zubenko was a very active life member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church.
She lived most of her life in Canonsburg, worked for Western Center until her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and was always willing to help anytime she was needed.
Mrs. Zubenko enjoyed gardening, especially her roses. She was famous for her pies, her recipes and sewing.
She was the last of her immediate family and will be sadly missed by all who loved and knew her.
On June 15, 1947 she married Michael Zubenko, who died on June 13, 1960.
Surviving is daughter, Susan (Eric) Vetter of Clarence Center, N.Y.; and with whom she lived with for the passed four years, two granddaughters, Melissa Vetter and Courtney (Sean) O'Hagen; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased are three sisters, Doris Deakin, Ann D. Schmitt and Violet Crosson, six brothers, Jack, Henry, Albert, Harold, Howard and Thomas Deakin.
Friends are welcome on Friday October 15, 2010 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Salandra Funeral Service, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday October 16, 2010 at 10:00 AM in St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Canonsburg, with Father Chuck Weiss as celebrant. Interment will follow in Oak Spring Cemetery, Canonsburg. In lieu of flowers, family suggest donations be made to Parkinson's research in memory of Charlotte.
