Catherine H. Ammon age 89 of Canonsburg, died at 8:30 am, Saturday September 5, 2009 in her home.
She was born December 5, 1919 at Enterprise, a daughter of John and Anna Soyka Petrola and lived for over 50 years in the Canonsburg area, where she was a member of St. Patrick's Church. Mrs. Ammon was a 1939 graduate of Washington High School and had been employed for many years at the Unimart in Canonsburg. She was a devoted wife, mother, grand and great grand mother who loved gardening.
On July 18, 1945, in St. Hilary's Church in Washington she married Edward Carl Ammon who died January3, 1998. She is survived by two daughters, Lenora Sue (Didier) Rousseau of New York, New York, Mary Veronica Ammon of Canonsburg, three sons, Edward Carl (Paulette) Ammon II of McDonald, Melvin Jacob (Colette) Ammon, of Port Orange, Fla. and William Michael (Susie) Ammon of Las Vegas Nevada, a sister Mildred Nakoneczny of Houston nine grandchildren, seven great grand children and many nieces and nephews. Deceased is her daughter Catherine L. Ammon who died May 24, 1983, four brothers Jim, John, Andy and Mike Petrola and three sisters, Julia Maliak, Anna Chastulik and Mary Petrola.
Friends are welcome from 2-4 and 6-8pm Monday September 7 in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/ supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where a Catholic Blessing Service will be held at 10am Tuesday September 8, 2009.
