Carmella (Carmie) Hulpa age 95 of Houston died Friday April 20, 2012 in Washington County Health Center. She was born November 30, 1916 in Houston a daughter of the late Sam and Filipina Ripoli Russo.
Mrs. Hulpa was a homemaker and had been employed for 17 years at the former Continental Can Company in Canonsburg. She was an active member of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church in Meadow Lands, where she was a member of the Christian Mothers and Guild, Prolife, and the Rosary Society. Mrs. Hulpa had worked many years at the flea markets, Bingos and funeral luncheons at the church and for her devoted service was awarded the Manifesting the Kingdom Award from Bishop Wuerl at St. Paul's Cathedral in 2002. She was also a member of the Chartiers Senior Citizens and Friends of the Chartiers Houston Community Library.
On June 7, 1947 she married Joseph J. Hulpa who died October 11, 2000. Surviving are her son William M. (Janice) Hulpa of Washington, three grand daughters; Marla Lusher, Kelly Renee Hulpa and Shalese Bennett and several nieces and nephews. She was the last of her immediate family. Deceased in addition to her husband are her son Joseph (Buddy) Hulpa Jr. and four brothers; Michael, Guy, Nick and William Russo.
At Mrs. Hulpa's request there will be no visitation and private interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery Canonsburg. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at 10:00 am in Our Lady of Miraculous Medal Church, Meadow Lands with Fr. Carmen D'Amico as celebrant. Please meet Family at church.
