Beverly J. (Jacobs) Carter

December 2, 1932 — July 10, 2015

Beverly Jean Jacobs Carter, 82, of Southview, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 10, 2015 in the home of her daughter, surrounded by her loving family, after a courageous and valiant 20-month battle with cancer.

She was born on December 2, 1932 in Canonsburg, a daughter of the late Laura Yerkey Spotti and Joseph Jacobs.

Beverly was a 1950 graduate of Cecil High School.  On October 24, 1954 she married Donald E. Carter, who passed away on August 10, 2007.

She resided in Southview for nearly 50 years before moving to Country Meadows in 2014.  Most recently, she resided at the home of her daughter Dawn and son-in-law Clete.

She and her late husband Don were the owners of Carter Cable Repair in Westland in the 1970s and early 1980s.  She had worked for the TJ Maxx Corporation from 1981 until her retirement in 2013, a career that she loved.  Beverly loved gardening, cooking, crossword Puzzles, and spending time with her family.  She loved a good laugh and watching football, baseball, hockey, and golf.

Surviving are two daughters and their husbands, Dawn and Clete Chambers of Canonsburg and Judy and Craig Wehr of Cranberry Twp.; three grandchildren, Lauren, Grant, and Morgan Wehr of Cranberry Twp.; a brother, Melvin Tilger of Lenoir, NC; and two sisters, Nancy Baughman of Hendersonville and Jackie Craig of Cary, NC.  Also surviving are several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to husband and mother, is a brother, David Tilger and step-father, Bruno Spotti.

Friends are welcome from 2-8 PM on Sunday, July 12, 2015 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra Owner/Supervisor, Lin Webb Funeral Director, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg 724-745-8120.  A Memorial Service will begin at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 13, 2015 in Chartiers Hill United Presbyterian Church, 2230 Washington Road, Canonsburg with Rev. Donald Austin officiating.  Everyone is asked to please meet at the church.  Interment will be held privately in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Hickory.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Donnell House, 10 Leet Street, Washington, PA 15301.
