Bernadette "Bernie" Elizabeth Halley, nAC.e Zaken, 71, of Lawrence, passed away on January 10, 2015 in Golden Living of South Hills after a long battle with progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP).
She was born in Canonsburg on April 12, 1943, a daughter of the late Steve and Julia Lazor Zaken.
Bernie was a graduate of Canon-McMillan High School. She worked in numerous family businesses and had a love for knitting, baking, hunting, and fishing. Her generosity, gentleness, strength, and laughter will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
Surviving are her beloved husband, George A. Halley, Jr.; two children, Jennifer Marley and Scott Marley from her first marriage; a sister, Valeria Kelleher; son-in-law, David Rice; and two grandchildren, Quinn Marley Rice and Reese Marley Rice.
Friends are welcome from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Service, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra Owner/Supervisor, Lin Webb Funeral Director, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where a funeral service will begin at 11:30 AM on Thursday, January 15, 2015. Interment will follow at 12:30 PM at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Twp.
