Barbara A. Roney age 84 of Canonsburg passed away peacefully Monday September 22, 2014 in Paramount Senior Care, Peters Twp. following an extended illness. She was born October 20, 1929 in Cleveland Ohio a daughter of the late Joseph and Emily Lehky Hrouda.
Mrs. Roney was a graduate of John Hay High School in Cleveland.
She lived most of her life in Canonsburg where she was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers and Guild and the former Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Canonsburg 1211 where she had served as treasurer. Mrs. Roney had been an avid bowler playing with leagues at both the Canonbowl and the Jefferson Lanes. She was a homemaker and enjoyed being a member of local card clubs for many years.
On January 28, 1950 she married Frank C. Roney Esquire, who passed away July 16, 1998. Surviving are two sons Frank C. (Virginia) Roney Jr. Esquire. of Peters Twp. and David B. (Lois) Roney of North Strabane Twp., a daughter Lisa Ann (Douglas) Bell of Cyprus Texas, six grandchildren; Carla Ann Roney, Rachel Marie Roney Esquire, Amanda Roney, Brian Roney, Sergent Justin Roney USMC and Nichole Bell, a brother Albert Hrouda of Grand Rapids Michigan, three sisters; Rose (Ronald) Black of Stone Mountain Georgia, Theresa (Robert) Setele of Parma, Ohio and Anne VanDyke of West Lake, Ohio and several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to her husband and parents is a brother Joseph Hrouda and six sisters; Emily Setele, Bertha Cross, Mary Berwick, Christine Mares, Angela Simmons and Helen Hrouda, who died in infancy.
Friends are welcome from 2-8pm Wednesday September 24, 2014 in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, Lin Web FD 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg, 724-745-8120 where departing prayers will be recited at 9:30 am Thursday September 25, 2014. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Thursday in St. Patrick Church 317 West Pike Street Canonsburg. Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Twp. The Christian Mothers and Guild of St. Patrick will recite the rosary at 2pm Wednesday in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's research.
