Arthur T. Lyon, Sr. age 70, of Eighty-Four, formerly of Canonsburg, died Friday, July 10, 2009 at 1:37 PM in Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born on May 4, 1939, in Canonsburg, the son of the late George R. and Gladys Marie Stevens Lyon, Sr.
Mr. Lyon graduated from Canonsburg High School class of 1957.
He served with the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.
Mr. Lyon was a member of Chartiers Hill Presbyterian Church; he was first Millwright Apprentice of Local Union 2235, Car Club of Washington Timing Association, the Meadows Standard Bred Owners Association and the Eagles Lodge of Canonsburg.
He worked as a millwright in construction.
Mr. Lyon enjoyed making wine, dancing and playing golf.
Surviving is his wife Bertha Dean Lyon of Eighty-Four; three sons, Arthur "Tom" (Renee) Lyon, Jr. of Washington; Ricky Dale (Janine) Lyon of Greensboro, N.C.; Michael Todd (Karen) Lyon of Plum, Pa.; daughter, Melissa Rae (Wayne) Mikus of Upper St. Clair; eleven grandchildren, Tyler, Jordan, Zachary, Nicholas, Bryan, Robbie, Emily, Christopher, Lauren, Caroline and Kyle; two sisters, Lucille Knupp of Canonsburg; twin sister, Arlene McKissick of Tuscan, Arizona; brother, George Roy (Janet) Lyon of Canonsburg and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased also are sister, Bertha Marie Lyon and brother, Fred Lyon.
Friends are welcome on Sunday, July 12, 2009 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM and on Monday, July 13, 2009 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the Salandra Funeral Service, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg, where Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at 10:00 AM,. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. Full military rites will be accorded by the combined honor guard of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 of Canonsburg and American Legion Post 902 of Houston. Family suggest in lieu of flowers donations be made to Central Blood Bank in memory of Arthur.
