Arthur C. D'Amico, 76, known to friends and family as "Art" or "Hutty", passed away on May 14, 2014 at his home in Canonsburg, with his loving family by his side.
Born September 14, 1937 in Canonsburg, the son of the late Donato and Mary Dellorso D'Amico. He was a member of Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Deacon and most recently, an Elder. A past employee of Ryan Homes, Mr. D'Amico became a licensed master plumber in Allegheny County in 1971. He founded D'Amico Plumbing Inc. in 1970 and just recently retired. His work was both his passion and hobby. He also enjoyed traveling and was an avid sports fan, particularly the Steelers and Penguins.
On March 13, 1958 he married Kathryn D. Taylor, who passed away on June 9, 2004. Surviving are his four children, Dan D. (Pam) D'Amico of Cecil, Jody L. (Tim) Simmons of Venetia, Jamie L. Bentrem of Downey, CA, and Julie D'Amico of Pittsburgh; two sisters, Ange Wingard of Canonsburg and Janie Neish of Canonsburg; his very close friend and companion, Joan Polk of Houston; his cat Tipsy; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Carmine D'Amico and two sisters, Minnie Kostic and Marge Sacco.
Friends are welcome on Friday, May 16, 2014 from 12 Noon " 8:00 PM in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra Owner/Supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where a Funeral Service will begin on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 12 Noon with Rev. Peggy Shannon, officiating. Interment will follow in Woodruff Memorial Park, North Strabane Twp.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church, 112 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 15317.
