Anthony Vallone age 89 of Canonsburg passed away peacefully on Friday January 6, 2017 in his home with his loving family by his side. He was born November 22, 1927 in Houston (Midland) a son of the late Anthony and Cynthia Ross Vallone. He lived in Canonsburg and most of his life in Houston. He was a member of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Roman Catholic Church in Meadowlands where he served as usher and was a member of the Holy Name Society. He had attended Chartiers High School and proudly served with the United States Airforce. Prior to his retirement in 1987 Mr. Valone had been employed in the wire department of the former Forbes Steel Corp. for 37 years. Prior to that Mr. Vallone had been employed at the former Canonsburg Pottery Co. He had been a member of the American Legion Post 902 in Houston, the Senior Bowling and Knights of Columbus bowling leagues and was an avid golfer with the Dogwood Hills Golf League.
On February 3, 1951, he married Mildred “Midge” Daily his devoted wife of 65 years. Also, left behind to cherish his memory are his two beloved daughters Margaret Elizabeth (Chris) Havelka of Houston and Antonia Marie Vallone of Canonsburg, his granddaughter, Christan Cherise (Mike) Mitchell and his dear great granddaughter Gabriella Paige Mitchell and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Vallone was the last of his immediate family. Deceased in addition to his parents is his brother Dominick Vallone.
Friends are welcome from 2-4 and 6-8pm Sunday January 8, 2017 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where departing prayers will be recited at 9:20 am Monday January 9, 2017. A Mass of Christian Burial will Be celebrated at 10am Monday in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Meadowlands with entombment to follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Twp. Full Military rites will be accorded by the Honor Guard of the VFW Post 191 of Canonsburg. The Holy Name Society will recite the rosary at 2pm Sunday in the funeral home.
