Anthony E. "Tony" Arnone

Anthony E Arnone age 78 of Houston passed away peacefully Wednesday May, 21, 2014 in his home following an extended illness.
He was born June 9, 1935 in Meyersdale a son of the late Samuel F. and Carmella Ross Arnone. He lived in Houston most of his life and was Catholic. Prior to his retirement he was employed in the large finish department at the former Cooper Power Systems. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Mr. Arnone was a 48 year member of the Houston Volunteer Fire Department where he served many years as Fire Chief, a life member and past commander of the American Legion Post 902 in Houston and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 of Canonsburg. He served on the Honor Guard for many years. He was a beloved school crossing guard with the Chartiers Houston School District for 25 years. Mr. Arnone also played base drum in both the Chartiers Community Band and the Uniontown VFW post 47 Band.
On July 24, 1970 he married Victoria A. Oliverio who survives. Also surviving are three stepsons; Bryan L (Nancy) Bushmire of Stewartstown, Mark J. (Joni) Bushmire of Houston and Jon T. (Hope) Bushmire of Hiram Georgia, two sisters; Catherine Gennocro and Beatrice Roncace both of Houston, seven grandchildren; Victoria (Justin) Deardorff, Brittany (Malcom) Smith, Zachary, Troy, Alyssa, Chelsea and Nichole Bushmire, and several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to his parents is a son, Anthony E Arnone Jr. who passed away at birth, and two Brothers, Philip G. Arnone who passed away May 23, 2002 and Joseph S. Arnone who passed away March 14, 2012.
Friends are welcome from 2-8pm Thursday in Salandra Funeral Service, Inc Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where services will be held at 1pm Friday May 23, 2014 with reverend Ernest Ross officiating. Interment will follow at 2pm in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Twp with full military rites accorded by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 191 Honor Guard.
