Anna M. (White) Gasper

Anna M. Gasper, 98 of Canonsburg passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, November 28, 2015 in the Golden Living Centers in Canonsburg.

She was born on July 4, 1917 in Houston, Pennsylvania to the late Mike and Mary Chyzk White.

Anna lived most of her life in Strabane.  She retired as a cafeteria worker from Cannon McMillan High School in 1980.  She was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Canonsburg.  She also belonged to KSKJ St. Jerome’s Lodge. She was very close to her grandchildren.  She enjoyed walking everywhere from the 5 & 10 to the bank or to the post office.  She delighted in caring for her pets, working in her vegetable garden and was known as a wonderful baker especially for her nut rolls.  She loved to travel with her husband, Andy, and visited Wisconsin, New York, Oklahoma and Florida to visit family.  She also enjoyed trips to Canada especially visiting St. Anne’s in Quebec.

On May 25, 1938 she married Andrew John Gasper who preceded her in death on September 17, 1986.

She is survived by one son Andrew “Drew” (Deborah) Gasper of Strabane, two grandchildren A. Bryan Gasper and Bethany (Scott) Crumrine.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother Nicholas White.

Friends are welcome from 4-8pm on Monday, November 30, 2015 in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor, Lin Webb funeral director, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg 724-745-8120 where departing prayers will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, December 1, 2015.  A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00am in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 317 West Pike Street, Canonsburg.  Interment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery, Canonsburg.
