Amelia A. Progar age 88 of Strabane passed away peacefully in the home of her daughter, with her family by her side, on Tuesday April 14, 2015. She was born February 22, 1927 in Indianola a daughter of the late Charles and Anna Broliak Razborsek. Mrs. Progar was a graduate of Bethel Park High School and was a homemaker. She lived most of her life in Strabane where she was a member of the SNPJ lodge 138 and St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Canonsburg. Mrs. Progar had been employed in the North Strabane Twp. offices for many years.
On January 14, 1950 she married Joseph T. Progar who passed away February 20, 2009. Surviving are two sons; Joseph (Claire) Progar of Mt. Lebanon, and James (Monica) Progar of Perryopolis, a daughter Carole (Mario) Fatigati of Mc Murray, seven grandchildren; Matt (Birgit) and Ted Progar, Jaymes and Anna Progar, Amelia, Nina (Chris Pray) and Cara Fatigati, a great granddaughter Josephine "Josie" Progar and several nieces and nephews. She was the last of her immediate family. Deceased in addition to her husband and parents is a grandson Charles Progar.
Friends are welcome from 2-8pm Thursday in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc. Joseph P. Salandra owner/supervisor 304 West Pike Street Canonsburg, 724-745-8120 where a Catholic Blessing service will be held at 10am Friday April 17, 2015 followed by private interment in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville. Memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Progar's name to the SNPJ Scholarship Fund.
